Rideshare Pet Peeves

uber driving pet peeves

Sometimes Uber driving can be frustrating.

There's so much to love about Uber driving. ❤️ But there are a few things that just rub me the wrong way.

Long quiet rides, like when the passenger likes the car silent for 30 minutes, and I have to sit in silence. My brain wanders all over the place. I want to listen to music, talk, or anything. I respect their choice and still give them 5 stars. It's not the end of the world, but it's something I dread doing.

Dirty passengers, especially the ones that stink. If they smell like they just smoked a joint and wallered in the smoke, they're getting a 3-star or worse. Food workers stink too. I don't rate them poorly; it's kind of out of their control. But foul body odor gets a 3-star. The worst, though, is the person that has dirty shoes. Why can't they at least try to clean their shoes off a little before they get in the car? It's not hard to kick the snow off your boots.

Soft door closing doesn't really bother me. Many rideshare drivers complain about doors getting slammed. That doesn't happen too often to me. Instead, I'd say about half my passengers don't fully close the door. And I always start to drive right when they reach for the door to close it again.

Loud phones, like the passengers that scroll through TikTok. That bothers me enough to get a 4-star. I don't mind the person on the phone, even the ones Facetiming or speaker calls. I can at least listen in.

I used to get upset with stops and waiting. It doesn't bother me anymore. I tell them, "take your time!" One out of 100 will abuse the time; I remind them that I'll cancel at 5 minutes. It's no big deal.

The people that bother me the most are those who order an Uber X but should have ordered an Uber XL. They know what they're doing. I show them where it says 3 passengers on the app. They quickly see my Prius can't handle all their luggage.

I actually feel bad for the moms with kids and no car seats. They're running late on their way to work and need to get the kid to daycare. I get it. It sucks not having a car. But I can't take them. Sorry.

Drunks worry me. I dread the vomit. 🤮

College kids are loud.

I wonder if people speaking another language are talking about me.

No pets allowed.
